About Allegheny Valley Transfer Co.

History and Philosophy

In 1925 our grandparents purchased a single moving van and began offering moving services to individuals in the greater Pittsburgh area. We have acquired a vast array of experience in the moving industry since those humble beginnings and are now in our third generation of ownership. Throughout the years that we have been in business and for the thousands of moves that we have completed, our commitment to excellent customer service has remained the same. This commitment to excellent service has allowed us to become one of the highest regarded moving companies in our area.

Here at Allegheny Valley Transfer, we realize that every move and each person's needs are unique. Our staff and professionally trained personal relocation consultants will guide you throughout the relocation process. Don't hesitate to ask a question, that's why we're here.

Through careful planning, and closely monitoring the services that we provide, we are able to ensure a quality move. Our continued success is measured by the numerous referrals that we receive from satisfied customers.

Based on our experience, we've developed a series of programs designed to provide our customers with the very best moving experience:

Quality Alliance

Our Quality Alliance is a team of agents, drivers and employees working to ensure that Allegheny Valley Transfer Co. is constantly striving to maintain and improve each area of service. The Quality Alliance has developed and implemented a set of quality standards that rank as the most comprehensive in the industry.

Allied University

Allegheny Valley Transfer Co. drivers are specially trained at our 3,000 square foot Allied University campus in the proper techniques of maneuvering furniture and loading a truck. They attend an intensive three-day session that combines classroom education with hands-on moving instruction. Courses include customer service, safety and equipment standards.

Professional Driver Development Program
Drivers must complete this five-day, hands-on program designed to ensure driver quality in load/unload techniques, paperwork preparation, customer service, communication skills, and claim prevention.

Equipment Standards
All vehicles must be inspected daily by the driver. There is a formal inspection twice yearly. Vehicles must regularly be cleaned inside and out, and appearance must be at an acceptable level at all times.

Allied Master Movers

Motivating our drivers to reach new levels of performance and expertise is what keeps our service levels growing and improving.

There are 10 rigorous standards a driver must meet in order to attain the title of Allied Master Mover including two years of service, as well as ranking in the top percentage of all drivers in customer service survey scores.

Completion of our Master Moving School is also required. Designed to provide drivers with a better understanding of how performance can continually be improved, curriculum covers quality development, customer service, claims handling, operations, shipment processing, pricing and safety.

In order to retain Master Mover status, drivers must re-qualify each year.

Making a quality investment is easy when you call Allegheny Valley Transfer Co.
Nothing earns a customer's trust like quality. We've always known that at Allegheny Valley Transfer. In fact, while some van lines talk quality, you've probably discovered it's difficult for them to provide any tangible evidence to support their claim.

We've developed a uniquely comprehensive and accurate customer service satisfaction survey, conducted by an independent third party, and continue to use this system to raise the bar for setting quality performance measurement standards.
